Classifying emails in Outlook

 

What you need to know

• In this section, we'll see how to classify emails in Outlook.
• Data classification is important for organizations to structure their data and understand the sensitivity of the information stored in it.
• Your organization defines classification labels and policies and makes them available for you to use. While composing an email, you'll see a set of classification labels chosen for you by your organization.
• When you classify an email, we'll protect the email and the attachment based on the policies set by your organization. Classified emails won't get protected if your organization has turned off protection.
• Note that attachments can be protected but won’t be classified.

 

Step-by-step

 

 

 

*You won’t be able to see the ‘Seclore It!’ button in Outlook when Seclore Classification is enabled by your organization and labels are assigned to you.

*Note that attachments won’t be classified.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here's how your recipient will see your email: 

 

*The dynamic watermark will not be applied to the attachments. Its content will appear according to the watermark configuration set by System Admins in the ‘Feature Configurations’ section of the Policy Server portal. Dynamic watermark acts as a level of protection and helps in tracing the source of data leakage, should it occur.

 

*If email body protection is also enabled for the newly selected label, the email body will also be protected. 

*Universal format attachments such as MP3, MP4, JT, BPX, SVG, PSD, XD, etc., will always be protected with Full Control permissions
